Getting started
- Turn your laptop or desktop off.
- Insert the USB drive containing the Championship Manager launcher into one of the available USB ports.
- Power on the computer. As it begins to boot, repeatedly tap the key for your computer's boot menu. Manufacturers use different keys – see the table below.
- Select the USB drive. Once the one-time boot menu appears, use the arrow keys to highlight the USB drive. It may be listed as "USB Device", "Removable Drive", or something similar.
- Boot from USB. Press Enter to boot from it. You should soon see the Championship Manager launcher.
- Enjoy. Select the game you wish to play.
- Quit. When you have finished, use the QUIT button. This shuts the machine down gracefully and lowers the risk of corruption.
- Install. For legal reasons the games are not preinstalled – connect to WiFi at the top left, then right-click and install the title(s) you want to play.

"SBAT verification failed"
This is a known issue caused by a Windows update, and it is easy to fix:
- Restart your computer and enter the BIOS settings – usually by repeatedly tapping F2, F10, DEL or Esc as it starts up. If unsure, search for your model and "how to enter BIOS".
- Look for a Secure Boot option, usually under a Security or Boot tab.
- Set Secure Boot to Disabled, save your changes and exit. This is perfectly safe on a personal laptop or desktop – it is mainly a setting used on corporate devices.
- Boot from your USB as normal – the error should now be gone.
